From here you can download my spellchecking files for Scid and ChessDB. (http://scid.sourceforge.net/)

spelling_2010_02_06.ssp.tar.bz2 (1,6 MB uncompressed 8,4 MB)

ratings_2010_02_06.ssp.tar.bz2 (4,9 MB uncompressed 30,7 MB)

The file spelling_2010_02_06.ssp contains spelling datas from about 123.903 players.
The file ratings_2010_02_06.ssp contains also ELO-history and the
FIDE-ratings from January 2010.

You need the ratings.ssp only if you use the function "Add Elo ratings" (Maintainance window). .

Now the FIDE-ID is also included. You can see the ID in the Player Information Window!

If a Player have a VIAV and PND entry, then you see new Links in the Player Information Window:

Anand, Viswanathan #gm IND [2803] 1969

%Bio Title gm:1988

%Bio World Junior Champion (U20), 1987

%Bio FIDE World Champion 2000-2002

%Bio World Champion 2007-

%Bio FIDEID 5000017

%Bio VIAF 73442525

%Bio PND 119068524

Thanks to Alexander Wagner !

Now I am experimenting with utf8 and scid. Please be careful if you try this and send me your experiences!

The file ratings_utf8_2010_02_06.ssp contains the same spelling datas encoded in utf-8.

Not all players, mostly players from ICCF are converted.

The playername in ASCII is added as synonym:

Dünhaupt, Heinz-Wilhelm Dr #cgm GER [....] 1912.05.07--1998.04.19

= Duenhaupt, Heinz-Wilhelm Dr

ratings_utf8_2010_02_06.ssp.tar.bz2 (4,9 MB uncompressed 30,8 MB)

The file utf.spa.tar.bz2 contains photo-aliases for all utf-names. Unpack this file to the directory where scid is looking for the photo files and you see all photos with ASCII-Names! (Thanks to Mikhail Kalenkov)

You can read the file with any texteditor. Let me know, if there is anything wrong.
If you have additional data of historic or other players ( Born , Died ,Titel, ...), please send a short email !

Any feedback are welcome !

I have created the .ssp with the FIDE Rating Manager:
