Maor Self DefenseKrav Maga is Hebrew and means translated contact fight. It is the official self defense and hand-to-hand combat system of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Israel Police and other security services. Krav Maga was developed by Imi Lichtenfels during his remarkable career as Chief Instructor for hand-to-hand combat in the Isreal Defense Forces. During his service he wrote the army's official self defense and hand-to-hand combat manual of the Isreal Defense Forces. In 1964 Imi Lichtenfeld left the Army but continued working als Chief Instructor in military and law enforcement institutions. He improved and refined Krav Maga and adapted it to meet the needs of civilian persons too. Krav Maga is a modern, efficient and praxis-proven self defense system, developed for the dangerous and instable world of today. But Amnon Maor, Chief Instructor of the Israel Border Police, considered this Krav Maga to be structured too military and not really useful under urban circumstances. On the basis of his intensive experience on the unsafe streets of Israel Amnon Maor continued developing Krav Maga to make it easier and more efficient for the use on the streets. The new Maor Self Defense is easier to learn and easier to use. And it's optimally suitable for the daily situations under urban circumstances. Because of the long-term and permanent developement and testing of Maor Self Defense on the streets of Israel Amnon Maor created a self defense system which sets standards.
