A

ADVERTISING
for political parties or groups is not allowed at TECHUANA.

ALCOHOL
should not be a problem at TECHUANA. On no account should alcoholic drinks be brought to TECHUANA. We are a youth camp! We want to set a good example to the young people in our care.

ARRIVAL
the registration of all camp participants and guests (if they stay over night) is absolutely essential. Registrations forms, you'll get from the Quartermaster.
One copy goes to the group and one remains with the camp management. In case of sickness or accidents, the registration is also to be used as proof of presence.

B

BABIES
and INFANTS are welcome at TECHUANA. But because they also need water, warm water, toilets and other facilities, we can’t exempt them from our camp fees.

BATTERIES
are not to be thrown into the garbage! Empty batteries are to be packed carefully and taken home to be disposed.

 

BEER
is not sold to young people fewer than 16! For adults, beer is sold at the TECHUANA-Shop, at a reasonable price

 

BELL
is near the chapel. The bell has to be rung ONLY at church services or emergencies. (fire, accidents) Disregarding this camp rule could result in a fine

BENCHES and TABLES
are available for inhabitants of the guest-house. If our guests, who stay in tents don’t want to build their own, they can rent benches and tables.

BERRIES
there are many of them in the forest around TECHUANA. Children and young people can of course pick them. But PLEASE, only the familiar ones like blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries. They are certainly known. Be careful with other trees or bushes.

BEVERAGES
and Soft drinks can be bought at the TECHUANA-Shop.

BLOCKING UP
or damming the brook (TECHUANA-river) is absolutely forbidden! The brook is full of life. There are crayfish and trout living in it. It is the environment of these rare fish. We are Nature’s guests, so take care and don’t chill any bottles in the brook. Labels come off and spoil the brook down, to where it enters the moor.

BOTTLES
and other glass are to be put into the containers available for that purpose.

BRANDING STAMP
with the TECHUANA-Logo can be obtained from the Quartermaster. The timetable is to be found on the notice-board, or can be arranged with the Quartermaster.

BREAD
and fresh bakery goods can be ordered at Rosegg. Delivery according to agreement (around 7.30 am).

BRIDGES
across the TECHUANA-river can be build. Before starting, ask for permission from the Quartermaster.

BUS
for the transport of luggage to, and from the train station, is available. However, we are not allowed to transport people.

BUSSES
for excursions can be booked at short notice with the post-bus service or with private enterprises.

CAMP BEDS
can be constructed be yourself.

 

CAMP CONSTRUCTIONS
can be put up at the campsite. Camp-gateways, towers, bridges, tables and benches, whatever you like. Before departure, the constructions have to be taken down, timber free of nails and ropes, has to be taken back to timber storage place.

 

CAMPFIRE SITES
there are: small, large, woodland, and jungle. Camp participants and guests are, of course allowed to use the campfire sites. The groups are to agree on the timetable among themselves. The reservation plan is to be found on the camp board. The Quartermaster should only be called, if there are any problems.

 

CAMP REGULATIONS
the latest addition to the camp-ABC are camp regulations. An offence against these regulations, or by endangering safety, is an offence against body and life. An offender will be reprimanded by the Quartermaster. In serious cases, one can be expelled from the camp. The camp fees will not be refunded. Civil actions may be taken!

 

CAMPSITES
are all level. The camp meadow slopes slightly.

 

CANCELLATION FEES
are, unfortunately, necessary. After written registration, the following rules apply. : for cancellations 6 – 8 months, before the planned camp 5% of the camp fees. 3 – 6 months 20%, less then 3 months 50 % will be charged. Because of too late cancellations, we were in the past not able to let sites and thus suffered quite a lot. We kindly ask for your understanding.

 

CAMOUFLAGE SUITS
and other military equipment or clothing, shouldn't be worn for TECHUANA’s and Scouting images.

 

CANDLES
are not allowed in the house nor in the tents (Danger of fire!)

 

CARAVANS
and mobile homes are not the Scout’s way to live, and are therefore not welcome to TECHUANA. The grounds and infrastructure at TECHUANA are not ideal for such vehicles. In special cases (older persons, chefs), please contact the Quartermaster in advance.

 

CARS
and other vehicles are NOT to be parked at the campsites or camp roads! We have a parking area! There are exceptions, i.e. permits for caravans are given by the Quartermaster. Vehicles are allowed to park on the camp roads for loading and unloading ONLY! The camp-roads are private roads.
Drive carefully and at the minimum speed (km/h 30).
TECHUANA does NOT assume any responsibility for careless driving.

 

CAR CAMPING
TECHUANA is a youth camp - on no account a car camp! We ask our guests to avoid car-jamming in TECHUANA. The less cars the better!

 

CAR PARKING FEE
we would like as less cars in TECHUANA as possible. One car each group for shopping or so are exempted from the parking fee. For all other cars there is a parking fee per night.

CEREMONY AREAS
are to be found near the large camp fire site, near the chapel and in front of the „Knappenhaus (house of miners)“. We ask you, to use these areas only for ceremonies, like taking the vow, flag greetings, camp fires etc. Under no circumstances is the site near the chapel to be used for space- playing- games (Football, Volleyball etc.).

 

CHAPEL
is to be found at the ceremony site, the „Khevenhüllerplatz“.

 

CHEMIST
in Villach, Velden and Faak.

 

CHURCH SERVICES
are always welcome at TECHUANA. We have an open chapel on the ceremony site. Arrangements regarding a timetable within the groups are necessary.

 

CLEANING
of the general equipment and sites is to be carried out according to the group plan, to be found on the notice board. Toilets, washrooms etc. are to be cleaned by the individual groups obtaining these. This is to be done at least once a day, every second day with the respective disinfectants

 

CLEANING MATERIALS
for toilets and washing rooms can be obtained from the Quartermaster.

 

CLOTHING
at TECHUANA, and during outside activities, should be worthy of boy-scouts and girl-guides.

 

COMPUTER
and Internet is not available in TECHUANA. Therefore, no e-mails can be send nor received in TECHUANA.

 

CONTRACTS
are mainly made with large groups. For all guests, a written registration is an agreement in the sense of a contract.

 

COOKING FACILITIES
can be build on the sites. We prefer the construction of „table-cooking facilities“ Timber, stones, or bricks are available for constructions. Should the cooking be done with gas, please bring your own gas-stoves. Please don’t dug out the ground for your cooking constructions!

DAMAGE TO AGRICULTURAL AREA
should be avoided. Group-leaders have to pay for field- damage, in and out TECHUANA!

DENTIST
in Rosegg, Velden and Villach.

DEPARTURE
Notice of leaving should be given on the day previous of departure. The campsite, dormitory, washing-facilities, toilets etc. are to be handed back to our staff or the Quartermaster, as clean as they were, when taken over.

 

DEPOSITS
are not required. Under certain circumstances, a cancellation-fee is asked. Conditions for the collection can be found under CANCELLATION FEES.

 

DISCOTHEQUES
are in Velden, Villach, Pörtschach, Faak etc.
There is no place for a Disco in TECHUANA.

DISINFECTANTS
for cleaning, disinfecting toilets and washing-facilities, you can get from the staff or the Quartermaster.
Before starting the work, please read and follow the instructions carefully!

 

DOCTOR
comes to TECHUANA immediately, when called. There are also doctors in Rosegg, Velden, Ledenitzen etc.

 

DOGS
are to be put on a lead in and around TECHUANA and have to be kept secure at night (wild animals). You can’t avoid dog fouling, but you can clean the droppings away!

 

DUST
in our lungs is unhealthy. We ask our guests, who come to TECHUANA by any kind of vehicles, to choose an appropriate speed! (km/h 30)

ELECTRICITY
is none in TECHUANA.

E-MAILS
while the summer season can’t be answered nor send out. To say „ Hello“ to the campers you can send postcards.

EXCURSIONS
and hiking-trips from TECHUANA are always unforgettable experiences. Some suggestions:
Mountain-lovers will find good hiking possibilities because these mountains are quite near to TECHUANA. There is the Türkenkopf (1751m), Mittagskogel (2134m), Dobratsch (2168m).
Marvellous excursions to the viewpoints Taborhöhe (3km), Kanzelhöhe (15km), Pyramidenkogel (14km), Lake Faakersee (4km), Minimundus - the miniature town of famous buildings at Lake Wörthersee. Reptile-zoo and the planetarium (26km). Castle Hochosterwitz (45km). Summer tobogganing course at Altfinkenstein (8km), or to the nearest border to Italy (15km).
Art lovers will be impressed by this historically important district.- Celtic excavations in Frög, the pilgrimage church of Maria Gail, Roman thermal spas at Warmbad Villach.

F

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
you can find on marked places. They get controlled every year and are ready to use anytime (Hopefully there is no need). The leaders or adults should get familiar with the handling of the extinguishers, just in case.

 

FIREPLACES
shouldn't be dug in the ground. Please use the campfire sites, that’s what they are there for. The Scouts are looking after nature and try to keep in balance with it. “Firepans“ are useful and allowed

FIREWOOD
is available in sufficient quantities. Good tools are important for preparing firewood. It can be collected in the neighbouring forest, with the permission of the Quartermaster ONLY! Unfortunately, the forests around TECHUANA are not ours. For collecting firewood, the permission of various owners is required. The cutting of firewood has to be carried out at the „timber-storage-place“, and not on the campsite.

 

FIRST AID
equipment has to be brought by each group. In special cases, you find first aid materials at marked places in the house.

FISHING
in the brook or ponds at and around TECHUANA by hand, net or fishing line is strictly forbidden! You could get fined with poaching. A forest warden controls the area and the course of the TECHUANA-river regularly.

 

FISHING DAY PASSES
for the river „Drau“ you can buy at the Council office in Rosegg. For the lake Faakersee at the cash desk of the bathing resort.

FLAGS
from political parties or groups may not be carried around nor be hoisted at the camp.

FLAG PARADE
and flag greetings are possible on your own campsite, or in front of the Knappenhaus (house of miners).

FOOD
can be bought at HOFER- or SPAR-market at Selpritsch.

FRÖG PREHISTORIC CENTRE
there you can find very interesting Celtic excavations. It’s not far from TECHUANA.

GARBAGE
is to be separated in TECHUANA. Apart from the main garbage-container there are containers for paper, glass and metal. However, avoiding garbage is cheaper then getting rid of it. Please think of this, when shopping for the group.

GAS
for cooking can be bought in Villach at the BP-Petrol station in the „Ossiacherzeile“.

GASLIGHTS
can be used in TECHUANA. Observe safety regulations!

GHOSTS
can’t be found in TECHUANA, but there are a couple of amusing fat dormice (Glis glis).

GUESTS
are always welcome at TECHUANA. Should guests stay over night, the registration with the Quartermaster is absolutely necessary. Our guests are also requested to pay the overnight fee to the Quartermaster before departure.

GUESTBOOK
can be found in the „Saloon“. All groups are welcome to sign the guest book.

HANDING OVER
the campsites, common rooms, kitchens, toilets, etc. after arrival of the group at TECHUANA. All facilities should be handed back after their camp is finished, at the latest one hour prior their departure, and of course, in best condition.

 

HELIPORT
ist der DSCHUNGELSPIELPLATZ. Es dürfen auf diesem Platz keine Zelte aufgestellt oder sonstige Lagerbauten errichtet werden! Bei Alarm ist dieser Platz sofort zu räumen! Anordnungen sind unverzüglich zu befolgen!

JAUSE
heißt die traditionelle kleine Zwischenmahlzeit, bestehend aus Speck, harter Wurst, Käse und Brot.

 

JUNGLE
is the area for the brownies and wolfcubs. Here you can find a playground the „monkeytown“ (with climbing frames and games for skills), the „ Manhouse“, the „Meetingstone“, the old oak tree, the place of fire and benches to have a rest.

KEYS
for toilets, kitchens, bedrooms etc., are given to the group leaders on arrival. In case of loss € 50, will be charged for every key lost.

KITCHENS
are in the „Knappenhaus (house of miners)“ and in the „Lexe-House“ .They are furnished. Hot water and gas-cookers are available.

  KITCHENWARE
is not available for guests staying in tents. In special cases we rent out kitchenware for our guests staying in the house.

KNIVES
are not to be carried openly on belts at TECHUANA. For image- and safety reasons.

LANTERNS
for illuminating tents and campsites are to be checked for their safety before usage.

LATRINES
don’t need to be build, there are sufficient toilet facilities.

LEFTOVERS
don’t throw any in the brook or toilets! Before disposing the residual garbage, please put the leftovers in plastic bags and tie them up. Daily collection is necessary.
Leftovers are not to be put into washbasins. The danger of blockage is then inevitable.

POSTBOX
is at the „Knappenhaus (house of miners)“. Mail gets collected daily.

LUGGAGE
i.e. tents, patrol-boxes, heavy rucksacks, suitcases etc. can be picked up from the train station at Ledenitzen.

MATTRESSES
are available for occupants of the house only. To bring your own bedsheet would be to your advantage. You can also bring your own lilo or matting.

MEDICAL INSURANCE RECORD CARD
all those who are coming to TECHUANA should bring one.

MEETING STONE
for the brownies and wolfcubs. You can find it in the Jungle near the place of fire

MEMORIAL STONE
of our deceased president and patron Lord Franz von Khevenhüller can be found at the large campfire site.

MOOR
is on the east end of TECHUANA. This nature reserve is home of many different plants and birds. It’s also a place, where many other animals find food and shelter. On the road next to the moor, there is therefore strictly no parking or stopping.

 

MOOR HIKING
is absolutely not allowed! The moor is very dangerous! The sloughs can be hard to see and there is great danger of sinking in!

MOUNTAIN BIKES
can be hired in Villach. A tour can be arranged on request.

 

MUSHROOMS
can be found at and around TECHUANA. Be careful!! Not every mushroom is edible. Mushrooms can be picked only if an experienced guide comes with you.
Remember they are also food for animals, so please don’t destroy them on purpose.

NAILS
are to be removed from all timber, not in use.

NEIGHBOURING GROUNDS
especially fields and meadows are to be avoided. When hiking, keep to the paths.

NEWSPAPERS
you can get at the tobacconist’s in Rosegg.

NIGHT SCOUTING GAMES
can be carried out. Always remember, we are nature’s guests. If the games take you out of TECHUANA over night or for several days, the camp fees still have to be paid.

NIGHT REST
is from 11 pm to 6 am. Exceptions are possible.

are not allowed in open areas. They can set alarms off!

OPEN FIRE
like candles, torches, party candles etc. are not allowed inside the buildings!! The danger of fire is too great. Please, only use torch lights or safe gas- or petroleum lamps.

PATHS
at TECHUANA are private and can be driven on only in exceptional cases. Any liability is excluded.

PAYMENT
der Lagergebühr bis € 500,00 wird vor der Abreise in bar erbeten, darüber hinausgehende Beträge bitte auf das Verrechnungskonto überweisen. (see BANK ACCOUNT).
SEPA Überweisungen sind für Techuana spesenfrei zu tätigen. Die Überweisungspesen gehen zu Lasten des Auftraggebers.
Vorübergehende Abwesenheit (Wanderungen, Hike etc.) befreien nicht von der Lagergebühr.

are allowed in TECHUANA. Petroleum can be bought in Villach.

POSITION
of TECHUANA is 1km south of the village St. Martin on the country road to Villach-lake Faakersee - Rosegg - Velden. To the south of TECHUANA, there are mountains with forests, to the north there is a spectacular view of the Gerlitze from where you have a great view over Villach. Climatically stable, sun is shining all day, rainy days are rare and it’s all far away from the „Summer-holiday-bustle“.

 

POSTCARDS
are sold at the TECHUANA shop.

 

POST PARTNER
is in Rosegg.

 

POWER UNIT
shouldn't be brought to TECHUANA. We have one emergency-power unit for special cases.

For badges, souvenirs, drinks etc. you can find on the price-board at the TECHUANA-Shop. Large groups, colonies etc. can enjoy special prices according to agreements.

PROGRAM
the responsibility lies with the group leaders. In some cases arrangements with other groups can be an advantage.

RADIOS
are not welcome at TECHUANA, neither at the campsite, nor in the buildings. For the weather report, have a look in the newspaper.

for each group lies with the group leaders themselves and not with the quartermaster and his team.

SAFETY REGULATIONS
is our highest rule! TECHUANA will not accept any liability for any kind of accidents. Group leaders are responsible for all actions at all times, at and outside TECHUANA.

SALES
of any kind of goods are not allowed at TECHUANA. To sale goods is reserved to the TECHUANA-shop only.

 

SALOON
is the name of the common room at the „Knappenhaus (house of miners)“.

SANITARY FACILITIES
are available in an adequate number. Camp hygiene is very important, therefore keep them clean at all times!

SHELTERS
can be used by 1 group, or according to an agreement by 2 groups, to set up a kitchen. (5 shelters are available).

SHOWERS
can be found at the sanitary sections of the camp.

SMOKERS
have been seen at TECHUANA. However, please never throw away cigarette-ends at the campsite or in the forest. Danger of fire!

SNAKES
are in a considerable number to be found at and around TECHUANA. Be careful! Don’t catch any snakes at all!! Strict nature protection! Snakes are fearful creatures. If you see one, don’t panic, keep calm and don’t run away too far, snakes take off, as soon as they suspect danger.

SWIMMING
is possible at nearby lakes. Lake Faakersee is about 3 km away, lake Wörthersee is about 12 km away and lake Aichwaldsee about 7 km.

TABLES
and benches should, if possible be build by the groups themselves. We also do rent sets for up to 8 people (prices see pricelist). For house occupants, sets are free.

TECHUANA
do you know, what that word means? TECHUANA is the place and the period of time, in which red Indian boys mature to warriors, by trials of all kinds. We don’t want warriors, but self-critical and responsible young people.

TECHUANA LOGO
Do you know what it means? You don’t? Well, it is a fireball of positive ideas based on the ideology of the scouts.

TECHUANA RIVER
is the name of the little brook, running through TECHUANA. It opens out into the moor. It’s a strict nature reserve!

TEMPERATURES
can be very high in the day and sink considerably low during the night. Good sleeping bags are an advantage.

THE OLD OAK TREE
can be found in the „ Waldenland“, near the meeting stone.

THUNDERSTORMS
can be very extreme in this region. Good tent materials are an advantage, also is good rainwear!

 

TICK INOCULATION
is advised. Without inoculation, you have to see the doctor after a tick bite. An inoculation up to 2 days after a tick bite is refunded by the social security. So, bring your social security card.

 

TIMBER
is available for all groups. Before taking, ask the Quartermaster to show what timber is to be taken. Timber is, if possible, not to be cut, because it’s available in various lengths. Please remove any nails and ropes of the timber, after your camp is finished and return it to the storage area. Timber is very expensive, therefore handle with care!

 

TRAIN STATION
is in Ledenitzen. It’s the nearest to TECHUANA. By foot it takes about 40 minutes to TECHUANA. Luggage can be picked up with the TECHUANA–bus.

 

TOILET PAPER
please bring your own.

 

TOOLS
please bring your own.

 

TORCH LIGHTS
please DON'T FORGET to bring with you!

 

TREES
are on NO ACCOUNT to be cut down or damaged! Should there be any damages to trees, the owner of the forest or meadows can sue, according to the damage between € 50,- and € 150,- , therefore avoid it in the first place!

WASHING
the dishes in the bathroom sink is not allowed. There are specially marked basins to do so.

WATER
for drinking and washing, is collected in the well chamber from our own well. The authorities check it’s quality frequently.

WATER DRAINS
can be dug around tents. Please close them up again, before departure.

WINTER
The accommodations in TECHUANA are not all „ winter fit“, but if you’d like to plan a winter adventure in TECHUANA, the Quartermaster can give you more information.
