The recurring main theme is marked by a distinctive melodic line in the minor which matches the title perfectly. In the sections in between, however, a traditionally Viennese note is struck, which provides a charming contrast to the the main theme and its highly exotic character for a waltz. The piece is partly the work of Walter Bergmann, who also arranged it, and collaborating with him was a great honour for the .
